Facebook is a social network that connects with people and keeps lost friends in touch. However, the network has become a dating site in disguise and also an avenue to scout for girls for some people.
People who are looking for relationship clicks on the others profiles, hoping to see what they want or like, this, people believe can spark off a relationship instantly. I think in Ghana, Facebook is in another world of its own. As much as Facebook connects people, it has gradually messed people’s relationship.
Imagine, clicking on your girlfriend’s page to see that she has changed her relationship status to ‘single’, when she is actually in a relationship with you. This development has forced people to track down their boy/girl friends with multi accounts.
Aside finding relationship, there are others who are on Facebook for business contacts and other reasons.
When GhanaCelebrities.com spoke to Vicky Zugah some months back, she revealed that her job as an actress has tied her down to the extent that, it is gradually affecting her chances of meeting the right man to settle down with.
“YES! Am still single, because my career keeps interfering with my chances of getting the right suitor. Plus at this point am not sure what exactly these men want from me, if they truly love me or only want to have a “bite” because am on TV”.
For sometime now, we have been following what our stars update on their Facebook and Twitter statuses. Interesting, light skinned Ghanaian actress Vicky Zugah warned a guy off her back. She explained why she is on Facebook which is to keep in touch with fans and not to look for a HUSBAND…
“I’m only on FB basically 2 meet old friends and make new & genuine ones NOT 2 search 4 a man 2 marry, I’m aware of how some of my colleagues treat their friends n fans on here but I CHOSE 2 be different, NOT b’cos am stupid but b’cos some of u here contributed 2 who I’m 2day..Pls, i wld appreciate it if some of u stop inboxin …me about marriage proposals n r/ships”.
However, the above words from the actress didn’t deter one guy called Henry away from her. Home girl comes back with another status F*** him off …
“any1 who knows and cares about this Henry Gyimah guy shld please advice him 2 stay de hell away frm me, i myt be single but am defnatly not searching 4 anoder lady’s guy, any more inbox frm u n God knos wat wil hapen 2 u, F**k off!!”.
