Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston and her husband of two years, Justin Theroux, have announced their split.
The two announced the decision via a joint statement, giving no reason except to say they ‘lovingly’ decided to go their separate ways at the end of last year.
They added that they would continue to maintain their ‘cherished friendship’.
“We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship,” the joint statement said.
“Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly.
“Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another,” it added.
The duo met on the set of comedy film ‘Wanderlust’ in 2011, and started dating not long after. They were together for four years, before getting married in secret in 2015.
Aniston, mostly known for her role as Rachel in ‘Friends’, was previously married to Brad Pitt, who she split from in 2005.
