Viasat1, one of Ghana’s leading entertainment TV Channel is percieved by many as a high profile television station based on the kind of  programs they show on their network. They mostly show lots of foreign movies and series, gradually they introduced West African movies and series and the likes.

The station is set to launch two brand new entertainment programs, which are locally produced. According to the CEO Mr. Rune Skogeng, localising Viasat1 with local productions will help the Viasat1 brand, which he believes will aid them to take further shares of the TV advertising market form the other stations.

Many see Viasat1 as the fourth biggest television station in Ghana, after GTV, TV3 and Metro TV. Mr. Skogeng said this in a press conference organised by the station to announce their plans to introduce two local productions.

The two programs are ‘Laugh A Minute’. It will be a hilarious daily family show, which will feature funny clips around the world. The show will be hosted by David Oscar, one of the up coming comedians in Ghana. There will be original Ghanaian moments in addition.

The second show is called ‘The One Show’, which will be hosted by the former presenter of Rhymes on GTV Joselyn Dumas. This show according to the host will discuss interesting subjects about family, friendship, fashion, relationships and other topical issues which affects the lives of Ghanaians.

A suggested premiere date has been set for 27th September 2010 for the former and 2nd August 2010 for the latter.

Mr.  Skogeng said apart from these two programs, Viasat1 will be launching a range of new and exciting programs this year since they have signed new deals with five big studios in Hollywood, which will enable the station to show top quality blockbuster movies. They will also be showing Deal or No Deal Nigeria, Ghost Whisperer and Grey’s Anatomy.
