Big Brother Africa 5: It’s Sammy B Again For Ghana!

Following MNET’s recent announcement that this year’s edition of the Big Brother Africa reality show will feature an all star studded cast of previous housemates, television watchers around the continent have been asking questions as to which group of individuals among the old faces will once again make it into the House.

The organizers had in public statements leading up to Sunday’s event, given a hint of which criteria would go into selecting the housemates and their countries, but fell short of giving out names.

They explained that whoever would be chosen from a country as one of 14 housemates must have been controversial, interesting and assertive with a wide continental appeal during his or her previous stay in the house.

With Ghana included in the list of selected fourteen countries, there is already heightened tension and anxiety as to whom, out of her previous four representatives, Sammy B, Kwaku Tee, Mimi and Ras Wayo will make the cut.

Even before the official announcement on Sunday, The Mail can reveal that Ghana’s first and foremost representative in the Big Brother House Kwame Bampoe a.k.a Sammy B will once again get the chance to carry the flag of the country high.

Sammy B left the shores of Accra sometime last week ostensibly to South Africa via a Kenya Airways flight.
As with the BBA’s tradition, housemates are supposed to be in South Africa some days ahead of the event, and Sammy B, according to a family source has since arrived in Johannesburg.

“He is currently not in town. All he told me was that he is leaving to South Africa and will be back in due time. He was tight lipped when I asked him what he is going to South Africa to do,” the family friend told The Mail.

The three other possible contenders Mimi, Kwaku Tee and Ras Wayo have been spotted this week in the city in a mood that does not suggest one of them has been chosen to lead Ghana’s onslaught.

While Mimi is currently putting finishing touches to her upcoming “Kiss and Tell” album, Kwaku Tee and Ras Wayo, The Mail has learnt, do not fancy a second appearance on the show.

Sammy B was Ghana’s representative in the maiden event in 2003 and got evicted just after managing three eviction scares. He arrived home to a rapturous welcome at the Kotoka International Airport amidst fanfare.
It is expected that this time around, he would perform better than he did in the previous edition.

So on Sunday, when the big announcement is made in South Africa, remember where you read it first!
