Fire On The Mountain: Nollywood-Ghallywood Actors Face Trouble: Ghana Slams $1,000 Fee On Nigerian Actors

Nollywood
Nollywood

Who started the mess? Oh yes, i mean who, when and why? I don’t want to say that the friendly relationship between the two fake woods (Nollywood/Ghallywood) has gone sour but something is really going wrong. It is official now, Nigerian Actors have to pay $1,000 if they desire or want to act in Ghanaian movies. The article below will give you the full gist.

I would like to mention that, it is unfortunate GC’s  attempt to entertain, educate and inform is sometimes  being turned into insult battles between “some” readers. For your info, we do not take any special interest in putting up Nollywood/Ghallywood or Nigeria/Ghana stories. When they come up, we will put them as we do for any other interesting and intriguing story.

For the last few months, issues and debates in the media have been centred on these two woods and countries. We expect you to discuss these issues without insults. If the “post hijacking” and insults continue, GC may reconsider it’s freedom of expression and speech policy by beginning to moderate and delete insulting comments. We do not want to do this but certain folks are pushing us to have a consideration for this…

All the same, Check out the article which was published in PM News, Nigeria.

Ghana Slams $1,000 Fee On Nigerian Actors

There are indications that the cordial relationship between the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood and its counterpart, Ghana’s Ghollywood, has hit the rocks as authorities of the Ghanaian movie industry have said that Nigerian actors will no longer be allowed to work in their country unless they pay a fee.

In a statement sent to the Actors Guild of Nigeria [AGN] Board of Trustees,  said henceforth, any Nigerian actor participating in any of their productions will be compelled to pay $1, 000 (One  Thousand dollars) or risk losing the job.

This development, according to the Ghanaians, is to give ample opportunities to their local actors, and as a result, develop their movie industry to an enviable height.

They are of the opinion that their Nigerian counterparts seem to be dictating the pace in the Ghanaian movie scene, and they want to address the issue before it gets out of hand.

Confirming this information to P.M NEWS on phone yesterday morning, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, Prince Ifeanyi Dike, said he and his executives are already addressing the issue.

He said that he was shocked when he received the information “because I never believed such decision could come from the Ghanaians. Nollywood has done a lot to improve their movie industry and what they have done now is a clear indication that they are ingrates. How could the Ghanaians insist that Nigerian actors must be paying $1, 000 before participating in their productions?

“A lot of our popular artistes have been calling me on this issue and I have assured them that we are going to make the necessary moves. It was Nollywood that made Ghanaian actors like Van Vicker, so it is absurd for them to be creating hurdles for our own actors now.”

Prince Dike, however, stated that part of the resolutions made by his board is that if at all, any Ghanaian actor must act in Nigeria, such actor will also be compelled to pay $2,000,(two thousand dollars).

Meanwhile, as the number of foreign actors plying their trade in Nigeria’s Nollywood continues to increase, the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has called on the Nigerian Film and Video Marketers to curb the excesses of these foreign actors.

The authorities of AGN reiterated that movie marketers, producers, directors and other stakeholders should avoid giving prominence to foreign actors at the expense of their local counterparts.

Star actor and National President of AGN, Segun Arinze, said he is not opposed to the use of foreign actors in Nigerian movies, but it should not be at the expense of the local talents.

According to Arinze, Nigerian movie producers should be cautious of the influx of foreign actors, especially the Ghanaians, who seem to be getting more roles and better remuneration in Nigerian films. He however urged the producers to “embrace an 80 percent local talent and 20 percent foreign in our films.”

He said “the current situation is worrisome to AGN as our talents are left wasting away. More disturbing is the situation where our own actors are not engaged in jobs outside the country, making our efforts not reciprocal.

“AGN appreciates the contributions of our foreign colleagues to Nollywood but when the home grown talents are wasting away, we should have a re-think because we are equally talented.”

  1. GC , I know how it feels when people are throwing insults under intelligent articles meant for. Intelligent discussions. This seems to be the only vibrant Ghanaian entertainment platform and some people with their insults and useless comments are trying to subject it to moderation. As much as I am not for the idea of deleting readers comments if this continues as you guys said, just don’t delete the persons comment alone but ban him or her from commenting for a week or month.lol

Anyway, back to the issue of the charge on Nigeria actors. This is absolute absurdity and discriminatory . Recently a Haitian hollywood based actor came to shoot in ghana, did he pay any fees or will he pay any fees next time ? Why don’t they say fees for all foreign actors coming to ghana rather but just saying nigerians ? I thought even Ecowas said free movement and trade. Is acting not a trade. This does not only sound absurd but sounds illegal too. Where are your lawyers or law students here ? Chris-Vincent please educate us on this. Is what Ghana doing not illegal as far as Ecowas is concerned ? Nigerians will do the same as they said. Double the amount and we will see who will suffer the most.

    • @Del,
Aren’t the Nigerians doing the same? I believe Ghanaians are well meaning folks
but i have a hunch that the have been pushed to the wall.
I agree that Nollywood has helped tremendously in the devt of our industry but they are
huge powerhouse and are likely to muscle their way through procedures here in Ghana.
They are generally bossy… let’s face it… ghanaians are very soft and actions like this may
be a result of such discrepancies.
In my opinion, the only way to actual dissuade the Nigerian industry is through money. Maybe not that exorbitant. The writers and directors of majority of our movies are Nigerian affiliates so we are on the losing side if we cannot at least preserve the acting trade.
I am a writer myself and i do think Nigerian entertainment is what we actually copy… look at our movies, music etc. Let’s concentrate on our own craft. We are really too dependent on others and the West, when in actual fact they can be as crappy as we are. This is not an ECOWAS thing per se, it must be the Ghanaian board’s responsibility to organize things accordingly

  2. About the article, i don’t think that all this pay before acting is necessary. It is very true that Nollywood helps Gollywood and so does Gollywood helps Nollywood. What i found absurd is Dike saying Nollywood made Van Vicker and the others, which is total bullshit. These people( Van, Jackie,Nadia,Majid) have already created a niche for themselves before joining Nollywood. If they were not popular and good, would Nollywood, a foreign industry know them, call them and offer them roles? I think both industries should allow each part freedom of movement and acting in any of the woods they desire to be in.
About the insults, as much as i wouldn’t want anyone’s comments to be deleted, some people’s comments are so so abusive and degrading. Fans of celebrities attack each other violently and even attack and degrade celebrities falsefully and it is increasing as fans of less loved celebrities attack most loved celebrities and their fans just to get even. So i think you should start controlling copmments that should be here. Such abusive comment shuld be deleted and the writers banned forever or suspended like other sites do. And writers should know that insulting celebrities and other fans does not make them any better than those.

    • @Lovistic, i’ll say nollywood really brought out van vicker, and it’s cuz he’s enjoying that fame that’s why he’s not acting in ghana anymore and in the nut shell i feel pity for ghallywood starting this payment of $1000

      Reply
    • @Lovistic, yes nollywood made van vicker and co in the sense that the ghanaian movies that made them popular were directed by a nollywood director, the movies were marketed and distributed by nollywood, part of the crew of the movies were from nollywood, even van vicker said it in an interview that the strategy was to introduce him and nadia into the nigerian market which worked, now without nollywood influnce, those movies wouldn’t have seen the light of the day and would only circulate in ghana, even till today 90% of your english movies are being market and distributed by nollywood which is why i think if this article is true then not only will your artist be paying $2000 but your producers will be singing a different tune in terms of marketing and distribution, so you see nollywood not only made your artists, it made your movie indsutry as well. And to your question if nollywood would have known van and co and called them for a job, the answer is yes, back in the 90s when the ghanaian movie industry was nowhere to be found, the likes of kwame owusu were making waves in nollywood, in the early 2000s the likes of the late suzzy williams, pascaline edwards etc were making waves in nollywood as well.

    • @Lovistic,THINGS LIKE THIS THAT YOU WRITE, AND OTHER PEOPLE WRITE IS WHAT CALLS FOR THESE INSULTS. I KNEW WHEN JACKIE, NADIA AND VAN STARTED ACTING. WHEN THEY WERE STILL IN THE GHANA MOVIE INDUSTRY. TRUST ME, THEIR ACTING WAS CRAP!!..IF I HAVE THE TIME, I’LL LOOK FOR MOVIES THE DID EARLIER, AND REFER THEM TO YOU. IT WAS NOLLYWOOD THAT HELPED MOLD AND BRUSH THEM UP TO WHAT THEY ARE TODAY. SAME GOES FOR THE ENTIRE GHANAIAN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY. NOW, THIS WHOLE THING IS NOT JUST ABOUT NOLLYWOOD OR GHALLYWOOD, IT’S ALL ABOUT HATE FOR THE NIGERIANS…THAT’S HOW IT ALL STARTS. IF YOU NARROW IT DOWN, YOU’LL SEE IT’S ALL ABOUT HATE TRYING TO SPRING UP AGAIN. NIGERIA HAS TRIED TO MAKE GHANA SUCCESSFUL IN ALL ASPECTS. YOU GUYS CAN DENY IT ALL YOU WANT, OR RESPOND RUDELY TO THIS POST. BUT LET’S FACE FACTS. I TRUST NIGERIANS. IF YOU CHARGE THEM $1,000 THEY MAY EVEN CHARGE YOU $10,000. THE GHANAIAN ACTORS LIKE JACKIE AND THE REST SHOULD BE READY TO KISS THEIR LITTLE FAME GOOD-BYE!! COS IT WILL REMAIN WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF GHANA AND GHANA ALONE.. GHANAIANS ARE SO PREDICTABLE!!!

  3. I will start with the insulting on the site, i have been exchanging emails with Chris-Vincent about this issue and I really understand his side of not wanting to delete or moderate comments. He has given me several reasons which are really sense making but I think if people are abusing the privilege of free speech, it should be control. I will be happy to see the insults go down than see comments being deleted. We are all matured people and can discuss issues that come up on here without attacking others or the writer. That is not a civilized way of getting your views heard.

And about the article above, I am a champion of domestication and natives or locals first but we are now in a global village where trade and services move fast from one end of the world to another. I see no reason why an actor has to pay money in Ghana because he is a Nigerian but another actor from Togo or America will not pay same money. As Del said, this seems discriminatory.

What happened to division of labour, enjoying economics of scale , partnership and all those concepts which aim at bringing more people together to achieve a success in any particular field? Doesnt it do justice and good to a movie to have the best actors from Ghana and Nigeria working on the same script?

This is not an attempt to promote local stars, it is an attempt to create fight and supremacy. This is not needed in Africa. I stand to be corrected, do all the foreigners being featured in Hollywood movies pay some fees just because they are not Americans? I think this is no. What happened to world citizenship? I also think it is unlawfully to put a levy on someone just because of his or her nationality.

    • @Opanin, Dike never sounded like Ghanaians owe Nigerians anything. what are they to gain from that? his article was in response to the shocking and yet aggressive movement made by the Ghana movie industry towards Nigerian actors.. yes, Nigerian actors alone. an act of discrimination!! WELL, LET’S SEE HOW THAT GOES. I WON’T BE SURPRISED THAT THE LIKES OF JACKIE, NADIA, YVONNE NELSON, VAN-VICKER, MAJID AMONGST OTHERS WILL LEAVE GHALLYWOOD TO REMAIN IN NOLLYWOOD WHERE THEY CAN ENJOY BETTER OPPORTUNITIES, AND FAME AND NOT KISS THEIR STARDOM GOODBYE!! OR LET IT BLOSSOM WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF GHANA ALONE!!! THAT’S WHAT I CALL BETRAYAL!! WATCH OUT Y’ALL!!!

      Reply
      • @Opanin, who says your industry helped our industry to gain popularity, nollywood was already very popular before the ghanaian movie industry started improving, it was already drawing lots of attention and interest with so many documentaries made about it, you can find these documentaries on utube, in terms of the ghanaian movie industry nollywood greatly and adversely helped them to grow to the extent the have grown now, if nollywood was not allowing your artist to act in nollywood, then why are the likes of van vicker and co still acting in nollywood, and they act without paying any dime, opanin let me tell you the plain truth, nollywood does not need the ghanaian market to survive rather it is the ghanaian movie industry that needs the nigerian market to survive, so to clarify things to you nollywood does not need ghana as much as ghana needs it.

        • @flint, how did nigeria help ghanaian movies to get popular? pls tell me, abeg how did nigeria help improve our industry, by employing our actors? if nollywood does not need d ghanaian actors inorder to survive, dey shud not complain but laf at dis. wasnt it in ur media dat ur actors wer complaining that our actors wer taking over dier jobs, wat caused dat? der was huge demand for our actors due to dier fluency in d english pronounciation plus dier ability to attract more sales of their videos, so to me, our actors rather helpd to keep d name of your no-lywood in business cause dey wer going down, ppl wer bored wif d same stuff. dey needed new faces, clear videos, understandn of words, words lyk nurse as in nerse, not norse. if u want to blame anybody, blame it on van, jackie n co for makin ur producers gain from dem. de ppl spoke n majority wanted van, jackie or nadia, so wy blame ghollywood, afterall, only a few of ghanaians patronise in ghn movies, de real sales comes from abroad n ada african countries…jus bcus nigeria is large doesnt mean dey bought all the movies made from ghana to make gh popular, if nigeria marketed it, it was because nigerians wanted to make profit. so pls jus hush n let me finish my kenkey

      • naa korley let me tell you how nollywood helped the ghanaian movie industry, the directors and part of the crew memebers of your top movies are nigerians, now the most important aspect of movie making might not be the lighting, sound, picture, acting, script, budget etc nor how good the movie is, what matters most is are you able to make dividends that is are you able to recoup your investment and also make profits, here is the major instance where nollywood helped the ghanaian movie industry by marketing and distributing your movies, you can confirm this on the ghanaian blog BLOG OF A MIGHTY AFRICAN the article was THE STORY OF THE GHANAIAN MOVIE INDUSTRY, according to this blog Venus Films used Nollywood’s marketing wheels and drove themselves into fame,it was our directors and screenwriter that helped inprove your industry, like i said before the only nollywood stars complaining are the out of date stars because i don’t see the top stars complaining, and dear this is the height of inferiority complex, infact this is chronic inferiority complex, whoever told you bad english equalls to accent, please my dear go educate yourself properly on what bad english is, you guys should stop decieving yourselves that your stars attract more sales because since van and co ventured into nigeria, nollywood recorded its worst sales, which was around 2008 and mid 2009 but thanks to the recent reorganization and strategy in marketing and distributing movies in nigeria now, nollywood is bouncing back. Can you imagine kettle calling pot black, you talk of people being tired of sames faces, can you tell me how many faces are in the ghanaian movie industry because i know nollywood has 1000 times more than your industry has, you present the sames faces over and over again and come here telling me of same faces, nollywood has a lot of actors and actresses in abundance, i can on one hand count the number of actors and actresses in ghana, i can remember reading comments from one ghanaian entertainment site where they were complaining that they were using the same faces all the time, that was around the time when beyonce, mummy’s daughter and darkness of sorrow was released, even up to this moment the complaint is still on and you come to talk of same faces in nollywood because i know ramsey nor genevieve nor omotola do not take up the whole acting spaces in nollywood rather they are even appearing in fewer movies, but in ghana, majid, jackie, nadia and co are always in every ghanaian movie.Point of correction nigeria did not come to market your movies for profit what so ever, they don’t even know when the movie is being made, it is your producers that will indicate to them of whatever movie that they want to market, your producers come to nigeria to market their movies because the don’t have the market.Who says majority want jackie and co, had it been the fans were being biasd and didn’t want jackie and co you guys would say nigeria is discriminating but hey they are accepted in nigeria, now you guys see it as favouring them over nollywood stars, what sort of childishness is that.My dear let me tell you producers don’t make much abroad and since you are not an insider in the industry you wouldn’t know this that is why most nollywood producers do not care much about the abroad distribution of there movies, they rather sell the right to top distributors abroad, nollywood producers make much of their money in the nigerian market sales.

        Reply
      • @Opanin, so whats wrong if they want to know what is going on in the industry, it is not like as if they are bothered because i can count on one hand how many top nollywood actors that come to work in ghana, and is not as if the pay in ghana is anything to be worried about, they appearing in your movies is just to help boost and promot it like they have been doing,It is not as if the developement would affect their job or take anything away from them.Yeah you guys were producing better movies before we came through but look now we are the ones teaching you how to make movies and uplifting your movie industry, stop living in past glory, nigeria was also producing good movies in the past aswell.

        • @flint,so tell them to do it for free.nonsense.promoting our industry indeed.how are u teaching us how to make movies if u indeed accept that we were makin better movies way b4 u guys came thru. 1000 times more eh.den you have a weak industry.i f u have a 1000 times more actors than we do and we only get to see jst abou 10 in every production u comes from ur stables then i’m sori for u guys. no wonder u’re crying wolf now that your producers have found our actors and are using them. u make me laf.

Naija makes too much noise yet too little action.

          Reply
      • @Opanin, were in this world do you see people promoting others for free, well even though you started making movies before us we now teach you guys how make movies in the sense that 90% of your english movies are written, produced, and directed by nigerians, and in the case of marketing and distribution, 99% of your movies are marketed and distributed by nollywood.Seriously you only see 10 artists in every nollywood movie, then you must be watching the wrong movies because to produce a nollywood movie there is at least 50 to 60 poeple (cast and crew combined) you only see the major stars more often in a movie because the story revolves around them, the latest crop of nollywood production are exceeding that number to somewhere around 100 to 10000 , even in hollywood movies that usually work with a large cast, you get to see only the major stars more often, yes we have 1000 times more actors and actresses than you guys which you can resolve by listing out the number of artist in nollywood and compare it to the number of artists in ghana, opanin if you follow all my comments on GC concerning this nigeria ghana movie collaboration thing you will see that i am not only in support of it but also in support of other african countries comming to act in nollywood because that shows how much nollywood has developed and it also shows that nollywood has grown beyond nigeria, it is growing into an african movie industry and whether you like it or not other african countires ghana inclusive will be on que as nollywood explodes, i don’t know what the competition is, we made you guys, so i wonder where you see me crying wolf, rather it is you crying wolf for nollywood dominating your industry, even the article suggested it.And for the record, i didn’t accept you made better movies before us, i said you started making movies before us, but you see, you guys have now turned around to depend on us.

  6. When will Ghanaians start appreciating Nigerians and not see us as rivals? I am sick and tired of the animosity created by some Ghanaians against Nigerians. Within the Film Industry, which country has a larger market? Do the Nigerian actors and actresses need the Ghanaian market more than the Ghanaian stars do the Nigerian market? I understand that the market has gone beyond the two industries-it is almost now global especially where Africans are. The reciprocal slamming of the Ghanaian stars with a $2000 fee for acting in Nigeria will serve the Ghana Industry better.

ENTERTAINMENT IS NIGERIA’S THING. IN WEST AFRICA TO BE PRECISE. AND AFRICA AT LARGE. GHANAIANS JUST DON’T HAVE THAT!

      • @Opanin, let me answer you that, you need nollywood because you have no market, even if you did it is not enough to sustain your industry, why do you think your producers come to nollywood to distribute their movies, even abdul salam mumuni of venus said it that nigeria has the largest movie market, you can find it right here in one of the articles where he said he has stopped using nigerian actors, well opanin the only nollywood stars that are complaing are the out of date stars, i don’t see any of the top stars complaining, if you think your movie industry has just two markets thats just too bad because nollywood has a lot more than two markets, it has markets across africa, carribean, and africans in the diaspora, can you imagine kettle calling pot black, you talk of people being tired of sames faces, can you tell me how many faces are in the ghanaian movie industry because i know nollywood has 1000 times more than your industry has, you present the sames faces over and over again and come here telling me of same faces, nollywood has a lot of actors and actresses in abundance, i can on one hand count the number of actors and actresses in ghana, i can remember reading comments from one ghanaian entertainment site where they were complaining that they were using the same faces all the time, that was around the time when beyonce, mummy’s daughter and darkness of sorrow was released, even up to this moment the complaint is still on and you come to talk of same faces in nollywood because i know ramsey nor genevieve nor omotola do not take up the whole acting spaces in nollywood rather they are even appearing in fewer movies, but in ghana, majid, jackie, nadia and co are always in every ghanaian movie, let me tell you nollywood grew outside the shores of nigeria on its own so i don’t see why we will now need ghana to keep on growing, but ghana needed our help to get to where you guys are now, you can confirm this from the ghanaian blog BLOG OF A MIGHTY AFRICAN, it was our marketing wheels that drove you guys to fame, not just the market, the directors and some crew members in your movies are from nigeria.

  7. Dis descision doesn’t make sense at all. Why are they making it seem as if we’re at war with Nigerians? Why shd an artiste 4rm Nigeria be made 2 pay $1000 when he/she has been invited by a Ghanaian producer 2 work 4 him/her?Almost every recent Nigerian movie includes one of these people Van Vicker,Jackie Appiah,Majid Michel, Yvonne Nelson,Juliet Ibrahim,Nadia Buari,Kofi Adjorlolo & John Dumelo who are all Ghanaians. So wat if the Nigerians also decide 2 charge a fee 4rm them b4 featuring them in their movies.I guess they shd also do same 2 the movie crew and see wat our movie industry will become.Dis is b’cos Venus films who make a lot of movies and other use a lot of Nigerians. Chk dis list directors- Frank Rajah Arase,Pascal Amanfo,Jayke Aernan,Tchidi Chikere,Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen,John Izedonmi,Willie Ajenge etc. Director of Photography-Dapo Ola Daniels,Tunde Adekoya Music-Austine Erowele, Screenplay -Pascal Amanfo etc. Infact the list is endless. At least abt 2 of these peoplehas helped in these recent Ghanaian movies most especially Venus. It is jst a few production houses like Sparrow which use a 100% Ghanaian crew. So dis move will not rather do more harm than good cos the Nigerians need our stars jst as we also need theirs & their crew. I think they rather charge the production houses rather than the artistes themselves.

      • @naa korley, sit down there and act like a proud Ghanaian. Nigerians have no hate for you guys. it is you guys that hate Nigerians. the way you respond to them and all. that’s because they are much more and will continue to be more successful than you Ghanaians. I’ve seen the way Nigerians are treated at your airports. your immigration officers are full of hate. Ghanaians don’t get such treatment at Nigerian airports, and a Nigerian friend of mine that schooled in Ghana, once stayed in a hostel with Ghanaians who were opportunist. wanted to eat the living day light out of his pockets. that was so bad. when i hear stories like this. i just feel bad for Ghana. i travel alot to both Ghana and Nigeria. and trust me, Ghanaians have lots of issues to resolve with themselves. cos, they will never prosper or be as good as Nigeria. just look at your capital city Accra! it cannot and will never be compared to Portharcourt in Nigeria or even Calabar, which is not the capital city of Nigeria. Ghanaians hate the fact that Nigerians are more successful and hardworking than them. Nigeria is NOT ENVIOUS OF ANY COUNTRY. and will never be. that’s why God keeps blessing them. Nigerians have the same attitude with the Americans. and that’s why this two countries keep prospering. Nigeria has made Ghana what it is today. look at all the Nigerian Banks, telecommunication networks..etc, they’ve created job opportunities for your citizens, even in the Entertainment industry. the only problem Nigeria has is corruption. and please, corruption is everywhere. people make Nigeria’s corruption more pronounced because Nigeria is a fast growing, industrious, wealthy, rich and YOUNG country. just 50years old this year. GHANA AS A WHOLE HATES THE FACT THAT THEY’RE OLDER THAN NIGERIA AND NIGERIA IS MUCH MUCH MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN THEM. you guys should drop the hate. hatred comes from within. hey, i love both countries, but here, and from this action by Ghallywood, we can all tell who despises who more. Ghanaians should search their heart and conscience. they really should.

  10. what i think is that we should come to resolving this issue becuase it dosen`t make any sense that nollywood and gallywood are having a misunderstanding hopw will it sound in the ears of the motion practctioner. we should have thsi at back of our mind that this two country had come a long way soi we should not or feel anyone is bigger than the other. my own humble suggestion is that the WOODS should come together an let this off their sholdere and progress. i think they should be thginking on how to better the two woods so that everybody would be happy been part of the two woods not fighting each other, please we are our brothers keeper so let embrace peace and think of the way forward rather than making trobles. thanx and God bless the two WOODS. • @naa korley, you know what, since you sujested this should go on, i won’t be suprised if you guys plead it stopped because nollywood has nothing to loose because it has more resources than ghana and will not relent in this unethical battle, it is ghana that needs us more than we need them, not only does nollywood have a huge market in nigeria, it also has a huge market in cameroon, uganda, tanzania, kenya, gambia, zinbabwe, malawi and many more in africa.Like i said it before had it been nollywood didn’t allow van and co to act in nigeria, the argument would have been that nigeria is too pompous to let the ghanaians act in nollywood, now van and co are allowed to act in nollywood it has become that they speak better english and act better.

  11. Am a Nigerian but I still dont understand why Nigerians and Ghanaians take every small opportunity like this to attack each other…….some times, i ask myself what is the bone of contention? Ghanaians are nice and lovely people and Nigerians are lovely people in a great nation, these two countries have their challenges and they also have their pride to shout about. There shouldnt be any form of jealousy or rivalry between us. I have a lot of ghanaian friends and they are such a nice and open minded people and they will always tell me Nigerians are intelligent people.
I read somebody saying Nigeria was blacklisted by America and Europe, as an African, I dont think any African should rejoice or celebrate that, because these same Americans and Europeans will treat all africans the same, you dont have to be Nigerian, once you are Black and from Africa they believe all we sing and eat is poverty which is wrong. europeans will stick together when anything affect any european country. lets learn to stick out for each other, please dont get me wrong, am not saying african countries should stick out for Nigeria, I believe Nigeria is a very rich nation and she is also a very fast developing country, so she can take care of herself. Ghana has made me really proude, well, maybe there is still a lot of things still going wrong in Ghana just like every other country including Nigeria, but they are proude of there culture and democracy. Pls guys no room for rivalry, it doesnt matter whether you hate Nigeria or Ghana, the truth is that we are africans and outsiders laugh at us when we attack ourselves. am proudly Nigerian and i refuse to be any other Nationality because being Nigeria is the best thing that happened to me. everybody should be that way.

Talking about Nollywood and Ghollywood, in my honest opinion, I think Ghollywood went a bit too far with $1000 because this will not in any way sanitise or develop there movie industry, the world is dynamic, things change for improvement but not backwardness. I will plead with the Nollywood not to make the same mistake by slaming ghanaian atists $2000 because that will not help the innocent artists from Ghana who are the ones suffering from this power tussle. I think Ghollywood should have a rethink about this decision before it is too late, because there are english speaking nations in west africa, and I dont know what will happen if Nollywood divert there attention toward that direction. I read from a report that Siera leon is begging Nigeria actors and producers to come over to there country to start shooting and producing Nollywood movies so as to develop there movie industry in that country. please lets dialogue not fight each other.
Niger 4 Life and God bless africa.
