I recently came across a comment on Bossip.com made by established US hip-hop rapper, Slim Thug, which got me thinking about this: Why do some Black men seek interracial relationships? According to Slim Thug, “it’s hard to trust a Black woman because a lot of Black women’s frame of mind is that the man has got to do everything for her; he has to pay for this, that, and if it ain’t about the money, then a lot of them ain’t f ****** with him.”
I found this comment to be very condescending, and an utter generalisation of the Black female population. Granted, there are some Black women out there who believe money is the be all and end all of everything BUT, not every Black woman is gold-digger. Just as there are Black gold-diggers, there are also White gold-diggers.
If one Black man has this train of thought, does that mean most Black men feel the same? The answer is a resounding no. Not only were Slim Thug’s comments shot down by several media outlets, but even fellow celebs joined in the criticism. Although Slim Thug’s comments are degrading and unfair to the majority of Black independent women that work hard to make their own money, it isn’t really hard to notice that there are a lot of male Black celebrities that are either dating or married to women outside of the Black race.
Now, I’m not saying that it is mandatory for a Black or White man to only date or marry a Black or White woman, and vice versa. However, statistics have shown that the highest rate of divorce is amongst interracial couples. Yet, there are still a lot of Black males that are with a non- Black woman. I know some Black ladies also date or marry outside their race.
Henceforth, Ghanacelebrities.com would like to know what you guys think about interracial relationships. Why do you guys think Black men, and even Black women sometimes date outside their race? Has anyone experienced an interracial relationship?- please feel free to share your experiences with us and the other readers.

I get it but like Im sure there is an article about Ghanaian immigrants (or Ghanaians in Ghana who date non-blacks) who choose to date outside the race which you could reference, Im sure of it.
You are right, it is painful to know the let downs some men/women have experienced at the hands of thier people. Its unfair, but since when is life fair. Love is love, be it finding it at the hands of a person who shares your culture or not.

Some men usually say that they want a “strong” woman because it sounds good to say this is the type of woman they desire. But if they actually met a strong woman most of them would not be able to handle it. Why? Because a strong woman demands respect, you can’t come to a strong woman chucking and jiving. You won’t be able to talk to her using hip-hop code words or use degrading epithets towards women in general, if she has class, that means you too will need to acquire some class or you will have to keep on stepping.Strong woman does not control freak who feels that because she is a strong woman you have to kow tow to her every demand. I’ve been around there…. some guys go into interracial relationships with some very funny presumptions. It all usually turns out otherwise. Better to stick with your own…that’s my take.
Personaly I dont have problem about race, but I do believe some of our African sisters make it harder, especialy when they come abroad, they abuse the Laws than citizen of that nation. I was married to my Ghanian qeen b4, am not saying am perfect, but it was the harders 8yrs of my life. Thus why some our turn to different race for curiosity, and soon you feel like they have the better understanding with you.

1, I am a woman, but I will never forget the first time a white friend was interested in me as more than friends, I was a teen at the time and new to USA, told my mum about it and lets just say the wrath of my mum left a hole in my heart that year. In hindsight, I liked him back because we were friends, he was genuinely interested in Ghana and didnt ask stupidIGNORANT questions about Africa and inturn I remember I liked how loyal he was to school work. In short it never moved beyond the friends stage but had I had my mum’s blessing, I would have gone for it.

I think this experience mirrors a lot of Ghanaians at least the young and perhaps other blacks as well, most times you like who you like because you have or admire something positive about the person. But with enough family or social condemnation you can be lead to bury those feelings unfortunatly for the black the dondemnation becomes ten times multiplied when its our own saying they’d never marry one of our own becos of this that and the other.

My sisters…A minority black men have been dating interracial for years without a big media engine. Black women(late 20s and up) have create this big push to date outside there race. With websites and all other venues. Ask yourself, if you where young intelligent black men doing what he is suppose to do, how are you going to react. We will see in the next 5 to 6 years.
