City People Magazine, a popular Nigerian celebrity publication has honoured 30 Ghanaian and Nigerian movie stars, who are currently making waves in the movie industries of both countries in a special function in Accra.
The event dubbed ‘Accra Nite of Movie Excellence’ took place at the Mirage Niteclub with the Nigerian Ambassador to Ghana, Musiliu Obanikoro and several high profile personalities in attendance.
Among the Ghanaian actors honoured on the night were the 2010 African Movie Academy Award Best Actress in Lead Role winners, Lydia Forson and Naa Ashorkor, Juliet Ibrahim, and Vivienne Achor. They were presented with a plaque and a citation read in their honour.
Some of the honourees were Bukky Wright, Halima Abubakar, Steve Eboh, Etim Ikpe among others. Also present was Kunle Afolayan, producer of the 2010 African Movie Academy Awards biggest winner, ‘Figurine’.
A Ghanaian version of City People Magazine is now available in Ghana and according to the publisher; he hopes that his magazine would enjoy a similar success in Ghana. He said he is happy about the film industry of the two countries and hoped that the growing collaborations between the two would be sustained for more growth.
