Well, looking at the Ghana Film Industry, a movie such as ‘Coz Ov Moni’ is long over due in coming. Ghana can boast of juju, robbery and the likes storylines in movies.
One thing we are lacking in Africa is encouragement; and what we have in abundance is back biting and pull-him-down disease. Good to know there are still people in Africa, who still believe in creativity and originality.
If you haven’t seen the latest movie ‘Coz Ov Moni’ dubbed musical film then you have to hold it till its released onto the market, when you finally watch it, you will understand that, a movie like that is not easy to come by.
‘Coz Ov Moni’ is musical film, which is a master piece because it has these two ingredients ‘Creativity’ and ‘Originality’. Are we not tired of always selling America to Americans? It’s about time we started selling Africa to the outside world. I believe we can sell Africa to the world through African way. Are people going to accept this movie?
Amazing thing about the movie is that, it’s strictly pidgin and all the dialogues are done in a musical form and it has never been done before out of Ghana, Africa and in the world.
After the screening, GhanaCelebrities.com engaged M3nsa in a chit chat about the movie. He indicated he is planning in August this year to launch his next album in the US, UK and in Ghana.
Even before it’s released, ‘Coz Ov Moni’ has already been accepted into the following film festivals and events: Rio International Film Festival (Brazil), Pan African Film Festival (Los Angeles), Black Filmmakers International Film Festival (London), Pan African Film Festival (Cannes), Headliner Movie at African Weekender (Sussex).
Below are the excerpts from the chit chat:
GhanaCelebrities.com: Can you tell us where you got the concept from?
M3nsa: Myself and Kubolor, we have always wanted to do an album together, so when we eventually got around to do it, we thought we would do something special and that was what this is. The initial idea was to make an album, where everything was connected from the start to the end by the time we finish this, you know we have one complete story, but in the process we thought, okay we can put pictures and make a film out of it, It’s a great pleasure working with Wanlov the Kubolor.
GhanaCelebrities.com: How do you think this is going to fare on the market?
M3nsa: We can only hope that people will accept it and see where we want to go with this and appreciate the arts.
GhanaCelebrities.com: How do we call this movie is ‘Coz Ov Moni’?
M3nsa: It’s a pidgin musical; I think it has to be given an original name, so pidgin musical is what we are calling it, it’s a musical film.
GhanaCelebrities.com: After the screening, it came out that, the whole movie was centered on you and Wanlov. Some movie enthusiasts thought other artistes should have been given the chance to sing in the movie, they believed that would have added something to the movie….. do you share the same sentiment?
M3nsa: Yes, it centered around us, its important we let the brand be fully represented in the film, the subsequent project we will be doing, we are going to write scripts for other musicians and stuff like that. And also because the writing, we did that when we overseas. So it’s just the two of us, if we wrote it in Ghana, then maybe would have considered … we had other musicians in mind though.
GhanaCelebrities.com: Looking at the numbers, the people appreciate what you guys have done.
M3nsa: I’m happy that all the hard work, the energy, sleepless nights, long journeys, travelling across the continent is all paid off, the people actually appreciate the arts and hopefully this is something that will encourage all the artistes in the country to make something different.
If we are always copying America to Americans, then let’s do something for Americans to copy us too.

thats nice, interesting. and it was just last week when people were chatting shit about Nigerians for producing movies in which they were speaking pigin? and the last time i checked (in which i find myself correct) pigin is a west african thing, and there is NOTHING to be ashamed of (since THEY were trying to make it seem like it was something wrong or to be ashamed of. lol). Let’s see what those losers have to say about this one. or is it an embarrassment this time? those same people will be up in here kissing ass. lawl.
and did this article just say ghanaians also produce juju and armed robbery films as well? I didn’t know that. yet some other loser was talking crap as if ghanaians don’t produce the same type of movies, what a bloody hypocrite. hissss
anyway, it seems nice, even though i can’t understand most of it. gotta work on my pigin a little. lol
ifeel so last week reading this now. cause its FIYAH, i plan to buy this musical and whoever shot the video used VERY EXPENSIVE camera cause it makes Mensa/Kubolor pop/shine intheir clothes.
