Teddy Abrokwa, recognized as the leader of the new school of radio broadcasters hails from Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana. An old student of St Augustines College with a First Degree in Political Science from the University of Ghana and a Masters in Human Resource Management from Keele University, UK.
Teddy spent a year with the National Broadcaster in Ghana – GBC where the tools were sharpened for a bigger slice of the broadcasting cake. Currently the host of Hot Digital Radio’s popular Thursday Night Flavas and the House Party on Saturdays, Teddy takes pride in educating a new audience on the classic hip life, afro beats, hip-hop and R&B of years’ past and supplementing the great taste of the present. His extensive music knowledge and record collection are on display three times a week.
Not only is Teddy satisfying fans on radio, parties and the club scene, he’s keen on invading the television world. Apart from appearing on various TV shows, Teddy has started his own brand of television with Teddy. TV which streams online on http://www.youtube.com/teddyabrokwa to showcase footages that is not readily available on their regular Television. Known as the ‘Sound Boy T’, Teddy holds it down on air where he brakes records of some of the biggest artist in the African music industry such as Wanlov, Mensa, Sarkodie, Tinny, R2Bees, Samini, N-Dex (Black Face), Chase, Asem, Richie and many more.
Wanlov, Tinny, Mensa (Hip Life), Ben Brako (High Life Legend), Andy Ansah (G.O.A.L the movie) Reggie Rockstone (Hip Life Godfather), Kay B (UK R&B star) are amongst the long list of celebrities from the motherland to be interviewed on Teddy’s radio show.
Teddy continues to keep the party jumping in whatever club or party he is spinning in the UK and the around world, but listeners can catch him every Thursday at 10 pm and on Saturdays at 7 pm GMT. It is a ‘heavy package so just join me and let’s rock out’.
The bottom line is this: Teddy Abrokwa has an enormous presence with today’s most desirable target audience. When he plays a record, it becomes a hit. When he hosts an event the class stands out. When he associates with a gig it sets attendance records. When he markets a product, people buy it and most importantly he is trusted and respected.
2009 is the year to beat and the sky is definitely the limit or beyond.
