Ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has commenced legal proceedings against Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, for the MP’s recent media crusade against him.
In a suit filed at the Accra High Court today, June 8th 2018, Anas is claiming he has been defamed by the loudmouthed MP, and is demanding Ghc 25m in damages.
Anas recently carried out an investigation into Ghanaian football, ‘Number 12’, which was premiered on June 6th. The documentary uncovered significant rot in Ghanaian football and its connections to the corridors of power.
Prior to its airing Kennedy Agyapong went on the warpath against Anas, attacking him nonstop in a series of media appearances. He described Anas as an extortionist, a blackmailer and a crook, even going so far as to call for him to be hung.
In response, Anas has filed suit which has been served to the MP, who has eight days to respond.
