In a stunning yet not so surprising development, a shortage of alcohol and the favourite cat meat soup hit numerous towns in the Volta Region of Ghana following last weekend’s historic world title win by boxer Isaac Dogboe.
Dogboe, who hails from the region on the eastern border, beat Jesse Magdanelo in the 11th round of their fight to become the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight/junior featherweight champion.
Dogboe’s win sparked massive pride and celebrations among his people who went out to celebrate leading to the reported shortage.
mynewsgh, reporting on the issue, said towns such as Ho, Hohoe, Aflao all suffered these shortages as celebrations went on for hours on end.
The New York City Bar and grill, Kiki’s court and numerous other establishments run out of the favourite Volta delicacy cat light soup and others also reported shortage of beer.
Some people even took to social media to complain about these shortages, the report added.
