Liberia’s President-elect, George Weah has been sworn in today, January 22.
George Manneh Weah is the first African footballer to become President as Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who also became the first African female to hold the highest office in the land bows out peacefully after ten years of steering the affairs of Liberia.
Goerge Weah won the presidential elections against the successor to President Sirleaf–Joseph Boakai in both first and second round in a period of three months.

George Weah won in the first round of the elections in October 2017 but couldn’t be declared a winner as he failed to hit the percentage mark per the constitution.
Now George Weah in the runoff with the then Vice President, Joseph Boakai in December garnered over 60% of total votes cast making him the winner of the elections.
