Veteran musician Abrantie Amakye Dede has threatened to ‘slap’ the President of Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffour over what he claims to be unlawful auctioning of a compilation of his musical works during the MUSIGA Presidential Grand Ball which was held at the Banquet Hall, State House–Accra.
Amakye Dede who seems to have lost his cool over copyright infringement said:
“Obour is not my manager and also not my public relations officer so he has no legal right to do a compilation of my musical works for sale.”
Amakye Dede even though has threatened to sue Obour but also stated that he is ready to settle the case out of court, “if only MUSIGA and Obour are ready to pay him the money they raised from the sale of my compilation album at the event.”

“I am not happy with MUSIGA and Obour. I am yet to instruct my lawyers to file a writ against them for copyright infringement,” Amakye Dede said.
A similar issue occurred in 2013 when Obour unlawfully used Amakye Dede’s name in an advert to pull the crowd to the Ghana Music week and Unity concert of which Amakye Dede called to give a strict warning to Obour and MUSIGA.
