President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has ignited a political firestorm in Ghana following comments he made during an interview with Al Jazeera.
The President was asked about why homos*xuality was illegal in Ghana and his answer was not sufficiently homophobic enough for Ghanaians.
The President made it clear that change in any democratic dispensation is due to pressure from the populace and if that pressure arises one day in Ghana, change would be made to the laws against the practice.
However, the comments have ignited a firestorm of criticism of the President from Ghanaians and religious bodies.
