READ HERE: Actress Lydia Forson Talks About Se*ual Harassment In The Movie Industry

Lydia Forson at the 2017 Golden Movie Awards

Actress Lydia Forson has added her voice to the prevailing sexual harassment issues in the movie industry. She told BBC about how she experienced one in the early stages of her career.
The actress also mentioned how one actress narrated her ordeal to her— adding that it seems to be everywhere in any other field and profession.
This follows the sexual assault scandal of filmmaker Harvey Weinstein who according to reports has harassed a lot more women than can be counted with Angelina Jolie coming out recently.
“Earlier in my career just once, a small-time producer asked to see my breast for a role I was auditioning for and I said NO and walked out.”
“It’s unfortunate that it’s very common but it cuts across everywhere. Women are subjected to unwanted sexual advances from men in powerful positions, especially who want to take advantage of their vulnerability. In Africa where there’s a lot of poverty and people are looking for jobs, they know how to feed on people’s desperation.
“An actress walked up to me and said she’s been trying to break up into the industry for several years but every producer wants to sleep with her and they named some big actresses that they slept with before giving them roles and threaten them if they refuse to cooperate.”
