13 suspects in the murder of the late armed forced major, Maxwell Mahama, have been discharged by the Accra District Court hearing the case.
The decision of the judge was taken after the prosecution revealed they had no plans to pursue charges against those particular 13.
However, 19 other suspects would remain on trial for the murder of the late officer.
Maxwell Mahama was killed by residents of the Central Regional town of Denkyira-Obuasi at the end of May, lynched to death by a mob.
32 suspects were arrested, with 13 now discharged. Prosecutors say some of those discharged would serve as witnesses in the case against the other 19 suspects.
