‘Start-up’ company ‘Kitty Hawk’, which is reportedly backed by Google co-founder Larry Page, has tested a new flying vehicle which is set to be unveiled later this year.
The ‘Kitty Hawk flyer’, which takes only one person, is envisioned as a personal flying vehicle which can be used instead of a car.
The vehicle has eight rotors, and is a vertical flying device – which means it takes off and lands just like a helicopter.

“Our mission is to make the dream of personal flight a reality. We believe when everyone has access to personal flight, a new, limitless world of opportunity will open up to them,” the company said in a statement to accompany a video of their new invention.
The statement added that the Kitty Hawk flyer is “a new, all-electric aircraft…which is safe, tested and legal to operate in the United States in uncongested areas”.
One does not require a pilot’s license to fly the vehicle.
Impressive, or not?
