Chelsea star Michael Essien has been rated as the second best African player to have played for English Premier League side Chelsea.
The sports network ranked the mercurial Ghanaian midfielder behind only Didier Drogba, the Ivorian forward who won everything with the Premier League outfit.
Essien spent five successful seasons at the side after joining for a then African record of £24.4 million, going on to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.

Although injuries later reduced his utility, Essien remains one of the most explosive box to box midfielders the world has ever seen – cementing his place in the hearts of the Chelsea faithful with his tireless performances.
Chelsea fans would recognise more than a shade of Essien in his prime in their current marauding central midfielder, N’Golo Kante.
Aside Drogba and Essien, the list includes Nigerian Jon Obi Mikel at third, Geremi Ndjitap at fourth, and Salomon Kalou finishing the top five list.
