The Black Stars of Ghana have dropped back to 45th in the world in the latest Fifa /Coca Cola world rankings after a momentary move up in last month’s ranking.
The Stars dropped from their March high of 43rd back to 45th, which would be their position by the time new coach Kwesi Appiah takes charge of the team on May 1.
The former Stars coach was recently handed the job he tried and failed in once, and he takes over at a near historic low ranking for the team in the past ten years.
Ghana’s 45th ranking, however, keeps her 8th on the continent. Egypt (19), Senegal (30) and Cameroon (33) are the top ranked teams on the continent.
Globally, Brazil regains top spot after years away from the position, with their recent form in South American world cup qualifying putting them ahead of perennial leaders Argentina. The Argentine’s remain second, whilst Germany, Chile and Colombia round out the world top five.
