Prof. Mike Oquaye, Ghana’s Speaker Parliament recently called for homosexuality to be totally banned in Ghana–saying, the law must be made clear on this.
The irony is that he made the above comment while speaking to a bunch of Christians at the Royal House Chapel—with his reason for the ban being that homosexuality is not African, forgetting that Christianity is not African too.
So if we are to ban all things non-African, then we should start with Christianity where he belongs and Islam.
Following Oquaye’s comment, the Executive Director of Amnesty International—Ghana, Frank Doyi has come out to say any of such ban “is dangerous and has the tendency of infringing the fundamental and universal rights of those engaged in homosexuality.”
