Black Stars midfielder Thomas Teye Partey has signed a new deal with his Spanish club Atletico Madrid, after a stellar Afcon in which he ended up in the team of the tournament.
The 23 year old joined Atletico as a youth player in 2011, and after a few loan spells, broke into Diego Simeone’s first team squad in 2015.
He has since gone on to make 31 appearances for the senior team, including appearances in crucial, top level games in the UEFA Champions League.
The club announced Tuesday that the Ghana star has signed a three year extension to his deal, meaning he is now tied to the club till 2022.

“I am very happy with my new contract and grateful for the faith shown in me.” Partey said after the signing.
“I have always been very fond of this club and I want to keep on developing at Atletico. I will give everything for this club.”
Partey made his Ghana debut under Avram Grant last year, and has since gone on to win 9 caps for the Stars.
