‘You Are Too Young To Question My Tenure’ Osafo-Marfo To Okudzeto Ablakwa

Despite challenges the Minority in parliament expressed, that could backwardly affect vetting of Ministers to commence, the process has started successfully today in Parliament.

Yaw Osafo-Marfo, Designated Minister to serve as Senior Minister Of State in the Nana Addo Administration was the first Appointee to be in the hot seat, to be “constitutionally and academically grilled” by the Committee.

Yaw Osafo-Marfo noted that his principal role is to coordinate and engineer Ghana to be an international business friendly Nation.

According to Mr. Osafo-Marfo, his supremacy is equal to all Ministers but with the opportunity to “flex his muscles” in any case, a Minister hinders his coordination role. He also said “It baffles me that people equate this role to Prime Minister” which is is clearly not.

He also emphasized that Ghana’s National Development Planning Committee should be restricted to 10years against 40years plan and the IMF agreement with the World bank must be reviewed, so as to allow the NPP to achieve its manifesto target.

In the heat of the vetting, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu questioned  the nominee about issues during his tenure as Minister Of Finance in 2004, Yaw Osafo-Marfo replied “you were too young at the time to … ” and he was interrupted by the vetting Committee Chairman, to retract such utterances because it’s unacceptable, which he did.
