Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan’s loan deal to Reading FC is reportedly off after the 30 year old failed his medical checks.
getreading.co.uk reports that the player’s condition indicates he would not be fit to play for at least eight weeks, which means the club decided against taking the risk on the striker.
Gyan flew into the UK on Sunday hoping to find a new club before the transfer deadline closes Wednesday, having been declared surplus to requirements at Chinese side Shanghai SIPG.
Gyan undertook his medical Monday, having been primed for a one year loan deal with the Championship side – but his physical condition seems to have torpedoed the entire deal. His agent would presumably look for another English club for the striker, but it’s difficult to see a deal being agreed with less than 48 hours of the window left.
