Shocking news hit us this morning that highlife singer Daasebre Gyamenah had passed away at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, and the tributes are pouring in for the late star.
Gyamenah was a talented crooner who did much for the genre in Ghana, and it seems, literally kept alive the career of one of our biggest stars right now.
Okyeame Kwame, speaking on Hitz Fm Friday, fondly recalled how Daasebre literally raised his career from the dead with his feature on ‘Kokoko’.
“Daasebre was the hottest artiste in the system when I returned from the US and I asked him to feature on my song, “Kokoko”.” he told Andy Dosty.
“When I got to the studio [on time], he had already been there two hours ago. By the time I returned from the US, my career was dead, but Daasebre saved me.” OK reminisced.
“I will remember him for his song writing skills and he always likes to keep to his corner.”
Take a trip down memory lane with the ‘Kokoko’ video…
