New Fifa President Gianni Infantino Promises Africa Two More World Cup Slots

Fifa President Gianni Infantino has made a pledge to give Africa more slots at the World Cup in the event that the number of teams are increased for future tournaments.
Infantino was speaking during a visit to Nigeria, where he met President Muhammadu Buhari, and commented on the seemingly never ending Nigerian FA crisis.
According to the new Fifa boss, the continent deserves more representation at the tournament. Africa currently has five teams at the world cup out of 32 competing nations.
“If FIFA will be increasing more football teams in the World Cup competition, I will propose two more teams to come from Africa,” Infantino told reporters.
Africa, with 52 nations, gets only five teams at the mundial, a state of affairs which even occurred under the stewardship of Josep Blatter. It seems that to move from five, an unlikely increase in the number of teams has to occur first.
