President Mahama
President John Mahama’s decision to reward a taxi driver with a house for foiling a robbery at Cantoment on Saturday has ignited backlash from a section of the public.
According to the public, rewarding the taxi driver is a tad ridiculous, especially in these hard times when we have several public officers including doctors and nurses going on strike because of poor conditions of service.
But in a media briefing at the flagstaff house on Tuesday morning, the president said the taxi driver deserved the reward because of the rare act of bravery he exhibited.
He said the taxi driver, Nana Yaw needed to be honoured for foiling a robbery that could have cost his life.
The president also thanked the management of Koala for promising to buy a new car for the driver.
