Yesterday, ScrewLife.Com, a parody and satirical website published a piece which said Asamoah Gyan’s father has stated that the Ghanaian footballer is not 30 years—and that he turned 30 about 10 years ago so he does not understand why he just celebrated his 30th birthday again.
The website wrote that Gyan’s father which it wrongly gave his name as Mr. Bernard Kwaku Gyan told them this, following Gyan’s 30th birthday celebration;
“Don’t mind him. He’s just saying what he feels. Actually, he turned 30 ten years ago. I know what I’m talking about because I gave birth to him. This is a clear case of the Cedi – Dollar relationship. I have no idea why his ‘football age’ keeps depreciating against his real age like that. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) must set up a commission of inquiry to critically look into this.”
Several media outlets in Ghana picked the satirical/parody piece as a real news publication despite the website being wholly dedicated to satire and parody. And some of the media houses including Montie Fm phoneed Gyan’s real father, called, George Baffour Gyan to respond to the publication.
Gyan’s real father told the radio station that; “My first born is 39, Baffour who follows is 36, then comes Opoku who is 33 before Asamoah who is 30. They all have three-year intervals separating them.”
The 3 years interval for all of Mr. Gyan’s children makes it seem some ‘Einsteinic’ mathematics was done in the bedroom or on paper to cover up something.
So GhanaCelebrities.Com decided to check the public records of Baffour Gyan, whom the father stated as being 36—and we found that, in fact, his football age says he is 35; born July 2, 1980 in Accra.
Now, it is obvious Gyan’s father’s respond to a satirical/parody website has gotten him into real life trouble as we ask; how old is Baffour Gyan really?
Could it be that Gyan’s father does not even know the real ages of his own children?
Can Gyan’s father come back to explain why he said on radio Baffour Gyan is 36 but his public footballer records say he is a year younger?
