Pastor Lawrence Tetteh Says The Problem With Ghana Is That The Citizens Do Not Pray: I Thought The Problem Was That We Pray Too Much?

Rev Lawrence Tetteh

This is precisely the problem with organised religion that people like myself keep trying to point out but nobody seems interested in listening to.

This preacher, who no doubts means well; is doing nothing but feeding into the ‘fama nyame’ syndrome that this country is drowning in. If there is any country on earth whose citizens pray more than Ghanaians- Lawrence Tetteh should point us to them.

As if we didn’t have enough all night sessions to disturb our peace of mind. As if we didn’t have enough church buildings on every corner disturbing the peace every hour of every day. As if we did not have enough charlatans preying on the desperation of people to get their response from heaven despite doing very little to better themselves down here on earth.

As if the Bible itself did not say ‘heaven helps those who help themselves’

Reverend Lawrence Tetteh of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach Church believes Ghana is in the rotten state we are in because we have stopped praying to God. According to him, the problems with this nation cannot be attributed to any politician, but on our failure to beseech the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

He was speaking at a press conference in Takoradi as part of a week-long programme dubbed ‘Power Must Change Hands’ (PAMUCHAHA)’ organised by the Breakthrough Family Chapel in Takoradi.

“Let us not deceive ourselves, Ghana is sick, not because of the doings of any political party but because the people of Ghana have stopped praying”, he said.

“Ghanaians have stopped calling on the name of God, but that name is a strong tower and when the righteous run into it they are saved.

“The Bible says if my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and seek me, I will bless their land”.

I do not know how much more petitions he wants Ghanaians to put before God. We even hold national aglow days where something akin to a national prayer day is held. If anything is the matter with this country, it is TOO MUCH PRAYER.

And saying our problems do not stem from the greedy, corrupt, and incompetent politicians running this country just gives them carte blanche to continue their ruinous ways- knowing no one would ever blame them but rather a lack of prayer.
