One of the judges implicated in the ongoing judicial scandal, Justice Paul Uuter Dery, has filed a writ at the Accra High Court calling for the incarceration of among others, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Bola Ray.
Justice Dery’s motion is for the named respondents, including the above two, to be charged with contempt of court for publishing or promising to publish content from the alleged bribery operation.
Justice Dery says publishing material on the case when the court has not ruled on the injunction he brought against it amounts to contempt.
The respondents in the case are the Chief Executive Officer of EIB Network Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the acting Editor of the New Crusading Guide, Samuel Frimpong; the Deputy Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Ernest Addo, and the Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah.
“Unless and until this honourable court convicts the respondents herein, they will continue to publish prejudicial articles in respect of the said case. In the circumstance, I pray that this obvious disregard to the Court amounts to nothing more than contempt of Court of which the Respondents ought to be convicted and punished,”
Justice Dery is one of the judges who has been fighting this case the hardest. He is seeking an injunction on the screening of the video, and with Anas publishing some of the stories in print form is now suing him as well.
He is alleged to have freed a drug baron for Ghc 11,000 and a goat.
