Carbon Dated Quran Dates Back To The Infancy Of The Prophet Mohammed And Might Not Have Been Written By Him

You see, if the world had any sense, the myths and legends of mankind’s infancy would have long been cast away; but we stubbornly cling on to that damned eternity concept.

Man is so afraid to fade into nothingness at his death he’d rather keep on believing in people living in whales, all the animals in the world herded into an ark two by two, and prophets flying on winged horses.

And all for an eternity…doing what?

Islam teaches that the prophet Mohammed received revelations from Allah towards the end of his life. He was helped to inscribe it by the Angel Gabriel. Mohammed is believed to have lived between AD 570 and AD 632, and received the revelations between AD 610 and 632, when he died.

A fragment of the Quran at Birmingham University in England has been carbon dated to slightly earlier than that. According to reports, the parchment has been dated as having been written anytime between AD 568 and AD 645. The accuracy of the dating has been placed at 94%.

It places some questions about the supposed origins of the Quran, although the range of the dating would leave wiggle room for the apologists to swim in.It’s already causing some consternation among Muslim scholars who have already thrown doubt on the accuracy of the carbon dating. Which is funny, since we use that same method pretty well when determining the age of other old stuff, like the age of the earth, or fossils.

The most astonishing thing is in this day and age we even have to debate the authenticity of centuries old books filled with unsubstantiated mythical stories.
