Accra Hearts of Oak have been handed a slight reprieve from their impending relegation after the disciplinary committee of the Ghana Football Association adjudged them the winners of a protest they filed against Asante Kotoko.
The ruling thus awards Hearts three points and three goals, whilst Kotoko loses the same from their points and goals tally.
The protest was filed by the Phobians after losing the Premier League super clash to Kotoko, with Hearts challenging the eligibility of Obed Owusu to be fielded in the game. The GFA disciplinary panel agreed that he was unqualified, and applied the sanctions as spelt out in article 34 (1) (e) of the GFA general regulations.
The ruling has lifted Hearts substantially out of the relegation zone, whilst Kotoko themselves have plummeted down there with only two games to go.
Kotoko has also been fined Ghc 5,000 of which half would go to Accra Hearts of Oak.
I expect some strong fireworks ahead of us.
